Category count not updating when editing ad/auction

Problem:

One of my users edited their ad and changed the category that the ad resides. However, the category count did not change accordingly. Why?

Solution:

There are several processes that will recount the category count. They are:

1. An ad/auction expires normally
2. An ad/auction is placed successfully
3. An ad/auction is cancelled by the user

The ad count process can be hard on the server depending on the amount of ads and categories so this re-count process was only placed within the features that happen the most. So it was left out of the category edit. However, in the category administration there is a link to force a re-count of the ads that can be used if you want to force a re-count.
