Pre-Upgrade Instructions

One of the most important steps before applying an Upgrade to your software is to first backup your existing data. This is a precautionary measure just in case something was to go wrong during the upgrade process. If you have done your backups you can easily restore your site to it's pre-upgrade state with minimum downtime. At this time perform a complete Database Backup (database instructions here) and full File Backup of your current installation.

IMPORTANT: We can not overstate the importance of performing these backups!

Prior to going any further with the upgrade process, you need to log in to your software's admin panel and write down your Software Edition and Version Number. You will need this information to determine the appropriate Pre-Upgrade Instructions to follow below, as well as, to present to Geodesic Solutions when requesting the appropriate Upgrade instructions.

NOTE: If you are not certain which version you are currently running you can find out this information by logging in to your admin's control panel. The current edition and version number that you are running will either appear in the header area or the footer area. For some versions you may need to click into one of the menu pages before it will show up in the header or footer. For example, if you are running GeoClassifieds Premier 2.0.3, then "GeoClassifieds Premier" would be your "Software Edition" and "2.0.3" would be your "Version Number".

It is possible that you need to prepare your current software installation for the upgrade process. This is due to some platform differences between older versions of the software and the new software platform. Therefore, if you are currently running one of the software versions mentioned below YOU MUST follow the Pre-Upgrade instructions for your version before proceeding. Failure to do so will cause a loss of data on your site. Please read all required steps for your particular version prior to starting the process.

Pre-Upgrade Instructions: Your software must be upgraded to 2.0.4 before proceeding.

Step 1: If you need to upgrade to version 2.0.4, you will find the available upgrade in your Client Area ready for download. If you are already at version 2.0.4 please skip down to Step 5.

Step 3: Access your software's admin panel and verify that it now displays version 2.0.4.

Step 4: ONLY if 2.0.4 displays may you proceed to the next step. Otherwise, contact Geodesic Solutions Support.

Step 5: Version 3.0 and later is built on a completely different platform than your current version. Therefore, it is necessary for you to run one of the Version 3.0 (or later) FULL INSTALL scripts downloadable through your Client Area. NOTE: The FULL INSTALL script has been specifically coded to detect your 2.0.4 version and will preserve your categories, users, listings, and price plan. However, you will be required to modify the design, as your site's existing design will be lost. Instead, your upgraded site will look like the default demo on the Geodesic Solutions website. You may now proceed to the FULL INSTALL section of this User Manual.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT attempt to run the Version 3.0 (or later) UPGRADE INSTALL on GeoClassifieds Basic 2.0.4. You may ONLY run the Version 3.0 (or later) FULL INSTALL after you have performed the required steps above.

Pre-Upgrade Instructions: Your software must be upgraded to 2.0.4 before proceeding.

Step 1: If you need to upgrade to version 2.0.4, you will find the available upgrade in your Client Area ready for download. If you are already at version 2.0.4 please skip down to Step 5.

Step 3: Access your software's admin panel and verify that it now displays version 2.0.4.

Step 4: ONLY if 2.0.4 displays may you proceed to the next step. Otherwise, contact Geodesic Solutions Support.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT attempt to run the Version 3.0 (or later) UPGRADE INSTALL on GeoClassifieds Premier 2.0.4. You may ONLY run the Version 3.0 (or later) FULL INSTALL after you have performed the required steps above.

Pre-Upgrade Instructions: Your software must be upgraded to 2.0.5.2 before applying the latest available upgrade.

Step 1: If you need to upgrade to version 2.0.5.2, you will find the available upgrade in your Client Area ready for download. If you are already at version 2.0.5.2 please skip down to Step 4.

Step 2: Follow the instructions that are included with the 2.0.5.2 file download.

Step 3: Access your software's admin panel and verify that it now displays version 2.0.5.2.

Step 4: ONLY if 2.0.5.2 displays in your admin panel may you proceed to the Upgrade Instructions. Otherwise, contact Geodesic Solutions Support.

Pre-Upgrade Instructions: Your software must be upgraded to 2.0.4 before proceeding.

Step 1: If you need to upgrade to version 2.0.4, you will find the available upgrade in your Client Area ready for download. If you are already at version 2.0.4 please skip down to Step 5.

Step 3: Access your software's admin panel and verify that it now displays version 2.0.4.

Step 4: ONLY if 2.0.4 displays may you proceed to the next step. Otherwise, contact Geodesic Solutions Support.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT attempt to run the Version 3.0 (or later) UPGRADE INSTALL on GeoAuctions Premier 2.0.4. You may ONLY run the Version 3.0 (or later) FULL INSTALL after you have performed the required steps above.

Pre-Upgrade Instructions: Your software must be upgraded to 1.0.7 before applying the latest available upgrade.

Step 1: If you need to upgrade to version 1.0.7, you will find the available upgrade in your Client Area ready for download. If you are already at version 1.0.7 please skip down to Step 4.

Step 3: Access your software's admin panel and verify that it now displays version 1.0.7.

Step 4: ONLY if 1.0.7 displays may you proceed to the Upgrade Instructions. Otherwise, contact Geodesic Solutions Support.

Once you have completed the "Pre-Upgrade Instructions" as required for your edition, you may continue with the Upgrade Instructions.
