Its time for yet another release candidate to be pushed out of the nest.  Time for RC8 to get a job and make it in the real world.  Will this be the last of the 4.0 release candidates?  Will it ever be as famous as R2D2?  Find out the answers to those questions and more by grabbing 4.0.0RC8 from the client area!  Anyone with Basic, Premier, or Enterprise editions can download this latest release from our client area and give it a spin.  If you don’t already have one of our products for your very own, go on over to the products page and choose whatever best fits your needs.  With any of the products on our products page (except for Lite editions), you will be able to try out this latest release candidate.

For the full details on 4.0.0RC8 see the linked post in our forums.  If you’re wondering where RC7 went, we released that last Friday but didn’t get around to posting in the company blog about it (RC7 is the shy one), but you can still see the full 4.0.0RC7 details in our forums as well.

You may be reading this and wondering where RC3-5 went. They were available at one time but only for a short time. The announcements for 3-5 were in the forum. These releases were for specific issues that some users needed quickly so we felt that another announcement in the blog was not necessary.

The release of RC6 addresses many bugs as well as some new features and feature improvements.  This should put us very close to reaching a final release soon. Please log into the Client Area on our site to obtain the download.

I also want to mention, that both 3.1.9 and 4.0 are still available for download. This will remain in place until we feel 3.1.9 is no longer necessary as a download.  However, 3.1.9 will be available as long as there are hosts that still use PHP4. Since PHP4 is no longer supported by the makers of PHP, we are expecting most reputable hosts to have fully migrated to PHP5 by now. If your host has not, we highly recommend contacting them as PHP4 is very old and again no longer supported.

We will be completing the demo update and website updates by the time the final release is made available.

Thank you to all who have been so instrumental in this release. We are very grateful and hope to continue to provide the best software in this industry.

    Best,
    Brian Warburton

We have completed the release of 4.0 RC1 today for our classifieds and auctions software. You can log into the Client Area of our website to obtain the software download if you are a license owner. If not, you can visit our products page for more info regarding our classifieds and auctions software.

IMPORTANT: The software is available for download however we will not be updating the demo until Monday September 29. Please visit the demos after this date if you want to see it in action first.

NOTE: Keep in mind that we will still make 3.1.9 available until we feel that everybody has had time to make any adjustments for the 4.0 versions. This gives you the option to stay at a release prior to 3.1.9 while still having access to the 3.1.9 or 4.0 downloads. If it is a new purchase, you have the choice of going with 3.1.9 or 4.0.

We are very excited about this software release. In short, we have added many new classifieds and auctions features, created new addons, included once paid for addons, and refactored the code to greatly improve flexibility and growth. Our goal is to provide the best classifieds and auctions software on the market so that your success is maximized.  With this release we feel that we are currently supplying the best classifieds and auctions software and do not plan on releasing this position.

Our Lead Developer, Jonathan Foote, has written a detailed forum post that can be found here. This post details the release information.

    Thanks as always,

    Hi Everyone,

As some of you may have noticed parts of our site have been periodically disabled yesterday as well as today. We are upgrading our hardware and have been systematically transitioning all of our systems to the new server. I sincerely apologize if this transition has caused anybody any problems with either sales or support and hopefully when complete we will be able to offer an even better service then before. Thanks so much for your patience and patronage.

    Hi All,

We have switched over to vBulletin as our support user forum application. It is a much better application, in our opinion, then phpBB which is what was previously used. Now that we have more advanced options, we can control who can do what, allowing things like file uploads, PM’ing, etc… All of which, were not available before due to abuse from spammers and phpBB limitations.

With these new forums come a few changes:

    • All active users imported to new forums: Your same user/pass should still work. If you haven’t posted in a very long time, you may need to request to be in the “license holder” group to have access to the client section of the forums. Most were automatically added to the “verified license holder” group.
    • Forum structure changed: Removed a lot of redundant sections and consolidated posts into the appropriate places. Also added a few new sections in the forums, some of them are specifically for features that will be in the upcoming Geo 4.0, such as the “Template Sets” section, which is an area for template designers to showcase template designs they are selling or providing for free.
    • Registration is automatic, with e-mail verification turned on.
    • Registered users are not automatically given access to the Client section. For that, they must request to be in the verified license holder user group.
    • PM enabled for verified license holders

There are many other changes you will notice. If you have any questions or feedback about the new forums, feel free to post :)

    Thanks,

    Hey All,

For any of you that have Hostmonster as your hosting provider, you may have experienced a problem recently where the site suddenly starts show “Site Under Maintenance”. We are not sure exactly what is being updated in the hosting accounts however the problem appears to be related to the php.ini file found in your public_html directory.

If you are on Hostmonster and your site suddenly starts displaying the “Site Under Maintenance” message, then delete or re-name any php.ini files in your main directory, and it should fix the problem. Ex: rename the file from php.ini to php.bak.ini

This new php.ini file is actually configured incorrectly, so that Zend Optimizer/Ioncube requirement is breaking.

Please direct any questions regarding what is going on to Hostmonster, at this point everything we know on the issue is posted above.

    Thanks,
